【Abstract】 Abstract In order to determine whether mitral valve morphological features (leaflet motion, thickness, calcifications, and subvalvular lesion) influence the efficacy of percutaneous balloon catheter mitral valvuloplasty (PBMV), a set of echocardiographic total score (ETS) was used for a prospective cohort study of different scores in 54 subjects with mitral stenosis (MS) but without significant mitral regurgitation (MR). It was found that the efficacy of PBMV within one week and 4 24 (14±5) months after the procedure was significantly better in the low score (≤8 points) group (n = 26) than in the high score (> 8 points) group (n = 28) in mitral valve area (MVA) , mean left atrial pressure, or mean mitral valve pressure gradient. In addition, 4 24 months after PBMV, MVA decreased from 1. 91±0. 38 to 1. 64 ± 0. 34 cm2 (P<0. 01) , left atrial dimension increased from 40. 9±6. 8 to 44. 7 ± 7. 2mm (P<0. 05) in the high score group.
