【Abstract】 By means of assessing the effects and by-products produced in disinfection, as well as prices, safety and convenience in operation of various disinfectants such as chlorine, chlorine dioxide, ozone and chloramine and the measures to treat the byproducts of organic halogens, the author thinks that no absolute advantages of chlorine dioxide, ozone and chloramine have been shown recently than chlorine in spite of the hopeful future of chlorine dioxide.
