【Abstract】 The composition and distribution of phytoplankton in the waters around the Xiyang Island of Fujian Province are reported. Among 127 collected species, there were 1 species to Cyanophyta, 105 to Bacillariopyta, 20 to Pyrrophyta and 1 to Chrysophyta, with 15 dominant species being identified. The monthly total number of phytoplankton was 51. 42 × 10~4 cell/m3 with an annual peak of 137. 05 ×10~4cell/m3 in August and the lowest value 6. 96 × 10~4cell/m3 in February. The variation of environmental factors, such as temperature, salinity, monsoon and water current were closely linked with the phytoplanktonic species’ composition and distribution.更多还原
