【Abstract】 For past dozens of years the researches on the circumpolar current at the Drake Passage, which links the Pacific and Atlantic off the Antarctic are reviewed. Most researches, based on observatory data, elaborated the frontal distribution and circumpolar water transportation at the Passage. The chief fronts studied are sub-Antarctic front (SFA) , polar front (PF) and continental-water-boundary (CWB). The water transportation by the circumpolar current at the Passage reflects the exchange volume between the Pacific and Atlantic. The causes of frontal formation and the mechanism of circumpolar current are aporoached.更多还原
