【Abstract】 As a kind of important materials in the series of cold work dies,the high speed steels (HSS) are characterized by the high compression strength and better red-hardness. The tool lifes of cold diesmade of super HSS,with superhardness of HRC66～70 and high wear resistance,are between the dies made of hard alloys and conventional cold work die steels,and the excellent workability as well as the low cost result in a competition of super HSS against cemented carbides (hard alloys cemented with cobalt) and hard alloys cemented with steel.
