【Abstract】 The global seismicity during the 3rd quarter of the year 1993 was of medium level or slightlyhigher,and was distinctly higher than the average seismicity level of the first half of the year.Ashallow earthquake with M 7.6 struck off the southwest coast of Hokkaido,Japan,but it was notaJapan Trench earthquake. An earthquake of magnitude 5.7 occurred in Shinai Penisula, Egyptand it has been the biggest earthquake occurring on western part of the Eurasian belt this year.An earthquake of intermediate depth registering magnitude 8.1 occurred in the Mariana Islands,and so this made the seismicity level in northwest Pacific Ocean region the first of the globe.Three major earthquakes of intermediate depth successively occurred in Hindu Kush region andthis may effect the seismicity in the northwest region of China. An earthquake of magnitude 7.3occurred off the state Chiapas,Mexico and a new cycle of seismicity has already begun along theAmerican seismic belt.A medium strong intraplate earthquake of M 6.3 occurred in South lndia.更多还原
