【Abstract】 Chinese enterprises startedtransnational operationin early 1980s, and thehis foreign trade corporations within MOFTEC system took thelead, such as Sinochem, Sinotrans ,Minmetals, etc. These corporations established representative offices and medium and small sized production enterprises abroad. Since the mid- and late-1980s, some large- sized production enterprises and a number of comprehensive companies including Capital Ironand Steel Corp. and China InternationalTrust and Investment Corp. began toconduct foreign direct investment.In general speaking, Chinesetransnational business is comparativelysmall in both investment scale and volume. Most of established Chinesetransnational enterprises are small sizedtrading agencies, and production enterprises which take a certain share inworld market are quite few. By June,1994, there are about 4500 Chinese overseas enterprise in more than 120countries and regions, 1704 of whichare non trade enterprises. The total investment volume is US $5. 2 billion,and the total overseas assets accountsfor US $20 billion.It is suggested to formulate a general strategy to enhance Chinese enterprises to Operate overseas business. The target to be hit Should be:1) maintain a steady developmentrate and rational industrial distribution ;2) optimized geographical distribution ;3) set up a moderate quantity and scale to be competent in some industriesand sectors.As a developing country, Chinacould learn from the world experienceto erect a model for the development oftransnational business which should notonly meet the geese enterprises demand, but also be comestible with theworld globalization trend and environment.更多还原
