【Abstract】 Coalbed methane is a new type of energy resource which is clear, conveninent and effi-cient. It is a special kind of natural gas which has less investment and higher success ratethan normal natural gas in the aspect of exploration and dovelopment. In the recent years,coalbed methane has been produced commercially in U. S. A.. China is rich in coal resource,and hence has a promising prospect for coalbed methane, which has an estimated resource ofabout 17 trillion cubic metres.
