【Abstract】 The toilet paper is usually already contaminated by bacteria at time of leaving the factory and the bacterial count can be higher than 1000 cfu/g. In order to reduce the bacterial count of the end product of toilet paper, the efficacy of sodium hypochlorite solution added into the paper pulp in controlling contamination was studied. It was showed in laboratory and field experiments that addition of 20 ppm sodium hypochlorite into the pulp could reduce the bacterial count of the end product of the paper to about 100 cfu/g. Trial production with this method for 3 months showed that not only the contamination bacteria decreased, but the whiteness of the product was also improved. No adverse effect on tensile strength was observed更多还原
