【Abstract】 The present paper reports a new subspecies of Volva volva from Fujian.Type specimens are deposited in the Department of Biology,Fujian Teachcrs University. Volva volva chongwuensis,ssp.nov.(figs.1-2) Shell of medium size,riddish in color,oval at middle,posterior and anterior canals rela- tively elongate,surface of the shell with shallow and transverse striates.Aperture long and narrow:outer lip thickened,reflected,with no denticulations along the margin of the lip,inner lip thin and reflected;anterior canal longer than posterior canal,the terminal position of the anterior canal slightly turned dorsad,the terminal position of the posterior canal straight. Holotype:Length 68mm.,width 27.2mm.,height 20.8mm.,off Chongwu coast, 24°53′N,118°55′E,Fujian Province,on sandy and muddy bottom of 60-100m depth, June 29th,1991.Paratype:Length of shell 49.8mm.,width 19.8mm.,height 15.2mm.,collec- ted on June 26,1992 at the same locality as holotype. This new subspecies is similar to Volva volva babel Oyama.It differs from the latter in an- terior and posterior canals short,the latter canal straight.The terminal position of the poste- rior canal is also straight.更多还原
