【Abstract】 Two groups pregnant rats were maintained on high cholesterol(HC) diet for 15 and 21 days, respectively. Their adrenocortical zono fasciculatae were studied by means of sterology combined with plasma cholesterol assay and RIA of corticosterone. The results, showed that all pregnant rats fed with HC diet were found to increase relative adrenal gland weight, density of zono fasciculata and average voluma of the cell while the blood cholesterol rose. However, on the 15th day influence of HC diet on fasciculata was different from that of the 21th day during the gestation. on the 15th day, the volume density of mitochondria and SER enlarged with parallel increase of the plasma corticosterone level, but on the 21th day these turned out to be contrary to those of the 15th day. This study suggests that HC diet induces to stimulate hyperfunction of zono fasciculate during midpregnaney, but then tends to result in hoperfunction of zono fasciulata during late pregnancy.更多还原
