稀土氟化物PrF3的磁光效应与磁性
A THEORETICAL STUDY ON THE FARADAY EFFECT AND MAGNETISM OF CRYSTAL PrF3
【摘要】 本文计算了稀土氟化物PrF3的Faraday旋转的Verdet常数及其磁化率,并研究了它们的温度特性。结果表明,该化合物在可见光范围内的Faraday效应主要是由Pr3+离子的4f电子在4f2和4f5d两组态之间的允许电偶极跃迁引起的,在考虑了晶场和外磁场的共同影响,并把Pr3+离子的3H4态作为基态的情况下,不引入任何可调参数,计算结果与实验符合较好。
【Abstract】 In this paper the calculations, of the Faraday effect Verdet constant and magnetic susceptibility of the rare earth trifluoride PrF3 are presented and its properties in the temperature range are discussed. It is found that the Faraday effect of this compound is mainly caused by the intra-ionic electric dipole transition between the 4f and 4f5d configurations. In the calculations, considering effects of crystal field and applied magnetic field on the ground state of Pr3+ion, onlt 3H4 is included. The calculated results are in agreement with the experiments.
