带电扭摆特性研究
On the Behavior of an Electrified Torsion Pendulum
【摘要】 研究了扭摆及其质量分布不均匀情况下,扭摆周期与加在扭摆上的静电压的关系.实验研究结果表明,扭摆周期在1.4×10-5相对精度下与扭摆是否带电无关.对扭摆特性进行的理论分析还表明在E.J.Saxl的实验结果中可能存在某种未被消除的系统误差.
【Abstract】 The period of an electrified torsion pendulum was found abnormal by E. J. Saxl in 1964. The abnormal change of the period is evidently higher than the noise level of background and proportional to the square of voltage applied on the pendulum. E. J. Saxl’ s experiment was recently repeated with an improved pendulum. The pendulum disk of about 80g is made of pure aluminum and suspended in an aluminum Faraday cage by a tungsten wire with a diameter of 25×10-5 m and a length of 0. 20m. Every half period of the pendulum was recorded by a photoelectrical servo system and a counter. The result shows that the period of the pendulum is independent of the applied static voltage. The relative accuracy reached is of the order of 1. 4×10-5 with 90% confidence.
