【Abstract】 The effects of casting modulus, pouring temperature. carbon equivalent and mould toughness on the solidification shrinkage of ductile cast iron was investigated experimentally. The weight. volume shrinkage and shape expansion of ductile cast iron specimens were contrasted with those of gray cast iron. It was found that the former is about 1% less than the latter in weight under otherwise equal conditions.and a new idea on liquidus density deficiency was thus proposed.
