【Abstract】 The crystallization behavior of PbO-Bi2O3-Ga2O3 glass with different compositions was investigated by DTA, XRD and SEM analyses. It is shown that both the transition temperature Tg and crystallization temperature To would decrease with the increasing of Pb2+ content and would increase with the increasing of Ga3+ content. Within the compositions investigated in this study the primary crystalline phases were PbO or PbxOy while being heat-treated at low temperature. For the compositions containing high Bi3+ content, the precursory crystalline PbxOy reacted with the glass matrix and formed xPbO. yBi2O3 during heat-treated at high temperature. For the compositions containing high Pb2+ content, the crystalline PbO were deposited from the glass matrix while being heat-treated at high temperature. Within this composition range no single bismuth oxide or any compounds containing gallium oxide were detected in the crystalline after crystallization process. In this study a glass structure model had been put forward based on the results of IR spectra and the molar volume measurements, which can explain satisfactorily the results obtained from DTA, XRD and SEM analyses.
