【Abstract】 The synthesis of two novel squarylium cyanine dyes is described. The condensa-tion of 2,3, 3-trimethylindolenine with squaric acid has been carried out smoothly, providedthere is no alkyl group on the nitrogen of the heterocycle. The reaction is catalysed by acidwhile proton transfer occures in the process of the reaction, whereas the reaction does nottake place in pyridine. This implies that proton transfer is of pivotal importance. Crystalstructure of compound 3 is eluoidated by four circle X-ray diffraction on single crystal me-thod indicating that the whole molecule lies on a plane.更多还原
