【Abstract】 The syntheses of iso-α-curcumene (8) and its three derivatives-dehydro-iso-α-curcumene (6), 2-methyl-6-p-totyl-5-hepten-2-ol (7) and 2-methyl-6-p-totyl-2-heptanol(9) were described. The intermediate enone 4 was synthesized from p-methylacetophenonewith vinylmagnesium bromide followed by Carroll reaction with ethyl acetoacetate. Hydroge-nation of 4 led to ketone 5. 4 and 5 via Wittig reaction with Ph3 P=CH2 and Grignardreaction with CH3MgI gave rise to Compounds 6, 8 and 7, 9, respectively. compounds 6and 7 have not been reported in literature. Their chemical structures were identified.
