【Abstract】 Two experiments demonstrated thatambient odors of a different nature canaffectmemory performance differently. A pleasantambient odor improves memory performanceby serving as a retieval cue when it presents on acquisition and retrieval; an unpleasantambient odor enhances memory performanceby setting off the subjects’ learning motiva-tion and raising their excitability.
