【Abstract】 In this paper polarization controlling mechanism used in coherent optical fiber communi- cation is analyzed on the basis of the electrooptic effect of nematic liquid crystal under the ac- tion of applied electrical field. A scheme of polarization control using liquid crystal cells con- nected in series has been introduced and some of experimental results are also reported. It is shown in theoretical analysis and practice that the liquid crystal controller is a kind of novel, yet quite valuable electrooptic device.更多还原
