【Abstract】 From 1988 to 1990, 180 esophageal carcinoma patients were randomized into two arms. 90 patients treated by radiotherapy plus 5-Fu emulsion (combination group) as one arm, and 90 by radiation therapy only (control group) as the otherm The method of radiotherapy in these two groups was the same, 10 Gy in 5 fractions/week to a total of 60 - 70 Gy.
