【Abstract】 The contents of platelet serotonin (5-HT) and its metobolite, 5-hydroxyindoles (5-HTs) were measured in 26 elderly patients with hypertension and 16 normotensive age-matched subjects. A significant decrease of platelet 5-HT content (P<0.05) as well as a increase in plasma 5-HTs (P<0.05) was noted, and there was a negative correlation between the decrease in 5-HT and 5-HTs metobolism (P<0.01). These results suggest that vascular sensitivity to serotonin is increased in elderly hypertensive patients.更多还原
