【Abstract】 Theoretical discussion is given to the mechanism and the sound power of exhaust noise which is the primary source of IC engine noise. v\t low frequencies, the exhaust noise shows simple-source characteristics, while at middle or high frequencies, quadrupole-source characteristics.
