【Abstract】 The study was carried from October 1984 to September 1987, on a total of 1,470 women,including 1,169 Norplant-I and 301 Norplant-II acceptors. The contraceptive results wereobserved. Life table analysis showed that gross cumunative pregnancy rates were 0.2% and0.3%, continuation rates 96.5% and 86.2% at the end of one year and two years res-pectively. The most important side effect during use of Norplant was changes in bleedingpatterns and this was also the most frequent reason for termination. The hemoglobin values of acceptors were found to increase after both 12 monthsand 24 months of use. There was no change in diastolic or systolic blood pressure,and their body weight increased slightly few. The insertion and termination of Norplantcontraceptive implants are not difficult. In 1470 cases of implantation, no infection orcomplication occurred. Also due to the safeness of the method impossibility of unnoticedexpulsion. and low pregnancy rates.
