【Abstract】 An instrument named "Voyage Sea Surface Illumination Meter" is presented. The instrument which is controlled by a microcomputer is able to measure, record and store the value of sea surface illumination at various time and locations during ship voyage. The principal technical problems which were resolved in the development process are to determine and record ship location, and surmount the effects of ship rocking.
