【Abstract】 The present paper deals with the descriptions of two new species of peritrichous ciliates from Tianjin (117°12’E, 39°08’N), China. Both of them belong to the Genus Thuricola. The diagnostic features of the two new ciliates are given below:1. Thuricola limbata sp. nov. (fig. la-b)Length of lorica 115-120 μm, width of lorica 40-43 μm, width of aperture 36μm, length of zooid 125-160 μm, width of zooid 23 Jim, diameter of peristome 33 urn, width of ciliated disc 24 μm.Lorica cylindrical in shape, rounded at the base. Aperture circular and wavy. Shape quotient 3. The closing valve located anterior about at one third of the total length of the lorica. Usually one or two zooids enclosed in a lorica. In extending state only one fifth or one sixth length of body protrudes out from lorica. Vestibule and cytopharynx rather short. A big contractile vacuole situated below the peristome. Cuticular surface distinctly striated transversely. Macronucleus band-like, longitudinally located. This new species was found in brackish water.The new species is similar to Thuricola valvata, but it may be easily recognized by its wavy aperture of lorica.2. Thuricola anomola sp, nov. (fig. 2a-b)Length of lorica 140-160 μm, width of lorica 40-48 μm, width of aperture 26-29 μm, length of zooid 225-235μm, width of zooid 23-27μm, diameter of internal stalk 4.5 μm, length of internal stalk 5μm.Lorica has an oblique neck, pointed at the base, the widest diameter is in its middle part. The closing valve located at the junction of the neck and the middle part. In extending state one third length of body extended out from lorica and fixed to the bottom of the lorica by a teat-like internal stalk. Vestibule rather long and narrow. Cuticular surface smooth. Macronucleus band-like.The new species is similar to Thuricola gracilis, but the latter’s lorica has a rounded posterior end and a straight neck.更多还原
