【Abstract】 Several anomalous variations of crustal stress recorded by the PYL-1 rock stress-meter at some stations have been described and the relation between these anomalies and the earthquakes at Xunwu, Quanzhou and Hualian has been analyzed in this paper. Successive variations with large amplitude in a short time or sudden jump, or oscillation of the crustal stress are probably short-term precusors; and a few stress pulses might be impending signals for earthquakes. Based on this, a preliminary prediction was made by the Putian seismic station 10 days bafore the Xunwu earthquake.更多还原
