【Abstract】 :It is a new research subject on the aesthetics of maps. The author considers that this research is not only used to explore the aesthetical factors of maps but also related to the theories and the methods of map making; In this paper the functions of the artistic thought and the relation between the scientific creation and the aesthetic creation in map making are discussed.
