【Abstract】 From 1986 to 1988, 17 patients with moderately-advanced liver carcinoma were treated by combination therapy (interstitial hyperthermia plus surgery or external radiotherapy) . No metastasis was found in the abdominalcavity on laparotomy. Steel needles were introduced into the target area ofthe liver carcinoma at intervals of 1.5 cm lengthwise and sideways. Heatingwas given 40-50 min. Two patients received interstitial hyperthermia followedby tumor resection, 3 patients received hepatic arterial ligation followed byinterstitial hyperthermia, 7 patients received interstitial hyperthermia followedby external radiotherapy at tumor doses of 19.8 Gy 50 Gy after an intervalof 19-40 days. The response rate of the liver carcinoma was 41% (7/17)The 6 and 12 month survival rates were 85% (12/14) and 40% (4/9).更多还原
