【Abstract】 A series of experiments was carried out in mice, the result of which showed that the elevated blood sugar levels induced by alloxan in mice can be markedly lowered by the active principle of common selfheal (tentatively named as Jiangtangsu, 50mg/kg, sc), 100 mg of which being about equipotent to 22.6u of insulin, A single oral dose of 10g/kg caused no death. When administered orally to rats or dogs for three months, no adverse effect attributable to the drug was observed. Ames test showed negative result.更多还原
