【Abstract】 Based on the 26 ¹⁴C dating data from 10 field stations in the multi-disciplineries investigation of the western Taiwan Strait in 1984—1985 and marking reference to the 13 ¹⁴C dating data from 4 stations in the Fujian coastal zone investigation report, this paper discusses the ages of sediments since the Late Pleistocene and the distribution of the sediments of each period. It presents the calculated sedimentation rates of the area since the Late Pleistocene and classifies centred by the ancient Mingjiang river mouth as the high sedimentation rate regions and the area from the coast to the mid-line of the strait as the low sedimentation rate regions.
