【Abstract】 In this paper, the empirical orthogonal function technique is utilized dirrectly to analyse the cross correlation field between precipitation during Mei Yu period and 500hPa monthly mean height on the Northern Hemisphere.The high linear relationship regions between the fields of precipitation and height are fqundr which is used in the long-range forecasting of precipitation during Mei Yu period.
