【Abstract】 This article presents a knowledge-based method of automatic segmentation of written Chinese i.e.so called CMAS(Content-sensitive Method of Automatic Segmentation). By organizing dictionary into ATN structure, decentralizing the segmentation knowledge and paralleling the segmentation process and the syntax semanteme process etc., CMAS system can handle the phenonmena of word chains which all existing method can not deal with.
