【Abstract】 A preliminary investigation of diel vertical migration of the main zooplankton in the North Yellow Sea has been made in this paper. The results have shown that diel vertical migration of the zooplankton in that area can be divided into two types: marked and unmarked. The former consists of some large zooplankton, the latter some smaller zooplankton. In addition, the vertical distribution of the zooplankton can be divided into three levels generally: the upper layer level the intermediate-lower level and the level of even distribution Individual species have marked seasonal changes. The effects of several enviro nmental factors on diel vertical migration of zooplankton are also discussed. Light is the most important factor and a thermocline (layer) plays a marked role of a barrier.更多还原
