The new synthetic insecticide amitraz was used to evaluatd the cidaleffect on human Demodex mites in vitro.Four different concentrations ofoil amitraz preparations—10%,5%,1%,and 0.5% were usedin the in vitrotests.All the above concentrations showed a marked effect.In 1% amitraz,all Demodex folliculorum were killed within 6 hours and all Demodexbrevis within 4 hours.Both species died within 9 hours in the minimum0.5% solution.These results suggest that amitraz might be a hopefulacaricide for human Demodex mi...
