【Abstract】 In order to investigate the seasonal varying characteristics of cartilagemetabolism and its relation with hair selenium in the children suffering fromKashin-Beck disease at an early stage,we selected 25 cases of diseased chil-dren and the same number of children in disease-free area as both test groupand control.It was found that urinary glycosaminoglycan of the diseased chil-dren not only has quantity abnormality but also has quality one.Moreover,it was speculated that cartilage metabolism of normal children may possessa physiological seasonal varying characteristics,but diseased children seemsto lose it and appears to have a pathological seasonal varying one instead.Itseems to us that the latter may have no correlation with hair selenium cont-ent.Our observation provides a useful clue to elucidate the etiology of thisdisease and reminds us of not ignoring the influence of seasonal factors whencollecting test sample and analysing test result.更多还原
