【Abstract】 Paleomagnetic analysis was applied to more than 462 specimens from 2 bore-holes of the Lower Liao River Region. The result shows that in the area studiedthe Brunhes normal chron directly overlies the Gauss normal chron, as correlatedwith the magnetic polarity time scale. The lack of the Matuyama reversed chronindicates that there are no strata deposited during the early Pleistocene. Thishiatus is probably related to the change of the stress field of the northern bra-nch of the great Tanlu fault zone. During the Brunhes normal chron, there alsoexist 4 to 5 polarity subchrons. This paleomagnetic analysis has provided a basisfor the subdivision of the Quaternary magnetostratigraphy of the area studied.更多还原
