URINARY CATECHOLAMINES AND MHPG IN PATIENTS WITH "LIVER YANG RISING"
【Abstract】 The three symptom-complex groups (Liver Yang Rising, LYE; Yin Deficiency and Yang Excess, YDYE; Liver-Kidney Yin Deficiency, LKYD) are said to come from imbalance of Yin-Yang in classical TCM literatures. They were frequently seen in cases suffering from hypertension, hyperthyroidism, climacteric syndyome, etc. The 24h urinary CA, E, NE contents (μg), NE/E ratio and MHPG-SO4 were determined in 132 and 208 patients respectively in comparison with 30 and 34 normal subjects. The result showed that the urinary CA, NE levels were significantly increased in LYR group (45.24±10.40, 27.72 ±10.06) as compared with the control (28.40±7.07, 16.75±6.09), and YDYE group (36.84±15.38, 21.09±8.82) but LKYD group (24.90 ±8.40, 16.84±6.88) showed no significant differance, the 24h urinary MHPG-SO4 contents was significantly decreased in LYR group (1060.54±457.19), YDYE group (1104.92±441.25) and LKYD group (1218.34±358.58) as compared with the control (1401.28±266.84), but no significant differences in these three groups. It is suggested that urinary CA, NE contents may represent a useful biochemical index in symptom-complex of LYR.
