华南早二叠世阿丁斯克期菊石及生物地层
LOWER PERMIAN ARTINSKIAN AMMONOID FAUNA AND RELATED BIOSTRATIGRAPHY IN SOUTH CHINA

【Abstract】 There have long since been diverse ideas about the correlation of the Lower Permian between South China and the classic area-Ural of USSR, with poor evidence. The discovery of the Popanoceras Fauna of the open-sea ecological pattern from the "Dian-Qian-Gui Basin" (Zhou, 1986) in the southwest part of South China indicates that the strata referred to the Artinskian Stage, besides the Misselina claudiae Zone, should include the Longyin Formation (s. 1.) and, probably, the uppermost part of the Maping Formation in this area. Such an opinion is also supported by conodont studies. While in the restricted sea developed on the wide platform of South China, the strata belonging to the same stage should cover the Misellina claudiae Zone (or the equivalent Pseudohalorites Zone), the Schwagerina tschernyshewi Zone and the uppermost Chuanshan Formation. Therefore, it is further concluded that the "Yunnan Uplift" was just an elevation during the Permian, mainly in the range of the Artinskian Stage, the lowest Artinskian and the whole Sakmarian and Asselian should be included in the Maping Limestone and the lower boundary of the Permian should be found within the limestone in spite of its diversified definition.
