【Abstract】 During the winters of 1984-1986 series of tests under uniaxial compression, tension and three-point bending were made to investigate the scale effect of com- pressive strength, tensile strength and fracture toughness of Bohai Bay sea ice. The Weibull Theorem of statistical strength has been used and the calculating formulas for scale effect are derived. The experimental data coincide well with the calculated results from these formulas. For constant proportional geometry with varied specimen diameter and length, the deviations between prediction and measuements of uniaxial tension and compression are 0.3% and 3.9% respective- ly, and for frature toughness is less than 2.2%. These researchs indicate that the Weibull Theorem is fully appropriate for explaining the scale effect of Bohai sea ice.更多还原
