革鲀科鳞片构造的扫描电镜观察和比较研究
COMPARATIVE STUDIES OF THE SCALES OF FILEFISHES (PISCES: TETRAODONTIFORMES, ALUTERIDAE) BY SCANNING ELECTRON MICROSCOPE
【Abstract】 The present paper deal with the comparative studies of morphology of scales of Aluteridae under the scanning electron microscope. Fourteen species of Chinese aluteridae fishes, belong to 10 genera, were investigated. The characteristics of the scales of Aluteridae are more different with the scales of other Teleostei. The scale consists of basal plate and scale spine, and have not the characteristics of focus, circulus and radii which found in most Teleostei. According to the differences of the surface structure of the basal plate, they may be divided into 3 patterns: (1) radiant pattern (Stephanolepis citrhifer, Chaetodermis spinosissimus, Arotrolepis sulcatus, Monacanthus chinensis and Alutera scripta); (2) branch-shaped pattern, it consists of 2 subpatterns: A. fork-shaped subpattern (Paramonacanthus oblongus, Paramonaconthus nippo-nensis, Navodon sp. and Alutera monoceros), B. paralled-shaped subpattern (Navodon septentri-onalis, Navodon tessellatus and Cantherhines dumerilii); (3) Honeycomb-shaped pattern (Per-vagor melanocephalus and Oxymonacanthus longirostris).According to the differences in number and range of the scale spine, they may be divided into 4 patterns: (1) singlespine pattern (Arotrolepis sulcatus, Monocanthus chinensis and Alutera scripta); (2) poly-spines and single-line pattern (Oxymonacanthuslongirostris and Navodon sp.) ; (3) poly-spines and poly-lines pattern (Paramonacanthus nipponensis, Paramonacanthus oblongus, Navodon septentrionalis, Navodon tessellatus, Cantherhines dumerilii and Alutera mo-noceros); (4) poly-spines and base-merged pattern (Stephanolepis cirrhifer, Chaetodermis spi-nosissimus and Pervagor melanocephalus).Because of the morphological characteristics of scales are noticeably different among the separating species, it can be used as the taxonomic characteristic in Aluteridae.
