【Abstract】 Trichogramma nubilale was introduced from USA to Guangdong in 1983. Pour years of studies on its biology and ecology showed that the species has such advantageous characteristics as easy to mass produce, more tolerant to high temperature and has higher ratio of females in its progeny than other indigenous species of Trichogramma. Following positive experimental results from small plots in 1983, mass reared T. nubilale was released in 800 mus of sugarcane fields in Pan-yu County, Guang-dong Province to control sugarcane borers (Chilo sacchariphagus. and Argyroploce sehistaceana). Nine releases, totalling 55,000 parasites per mu, were made during mid-March to June, 1986. Compared with releasing Trichogramma: confusum, the dominant native species, T. nubilale gave a better control, with sustained population in the sugarcane fields. The released T. nubilale was also more vigorous than T. confusum. especially during hot summer seasons.更多还原
