【Abstract】 In order to reduce the corrosive effect of glutaraldehyde on metals, sodium nitrite was added as anticorrosive. It was showed in laboratory that 2% neutral glutaraldehyde with 0.5% sodium nitrite could kill completely the spores of Bacillus subtilis var. niger after 3 hr of contact, while neutral glutaraldehyde alone required 6 hr of contact to achieve the same results. This means that the sporicidal efficacy of the former is two times higher than that of the latter. With regard to the killing effect on Pseudomonas aeruginosa or inactivation effect on HBsAg, no difference was found whether sodium nitrite was added to glutaraldehyde or not. After addition of 0.5% sodium nitrite, the 2% neutral glutaraldehyde can keep effective for four weeks. No corrosion was found on metal medical instruments immersed in the mixture for several hours.更多还原
