【Abstract】 This article reports using Teflon that was implanted into the sclera to treat 100 cases (103 eyes) of retinal detachment. The cure rate was obtained as 94.1% in short duration. 71 out of 103 cases were followed up for 6 months to over 3 years. The cure rate was obtained as 95.7% in long duration Parts of implanted material were drained out in three cases. 2.91% of drained rate was observed. The irritated symptoms would be quickly eliminated when the part of drained Teflon was cut off, not influencing the recovery of the retinal detachment. The final vision of 48 out of 71 eyes was better than that at leaving the hospital. None of the eyes was infected by bacteria.Teflon and silicon sponge were also implanted into rabbit sclera. The result showed that there were a lot of collagen fibers growing and healing between Teflon fibers. There was no change of the scleral thickness in outer and inner layers of implanted site. This provides an experimental proof that implanted Teflon could not be easily drained out in the clinical aspect.更多还原
