【Abstract】 In the electrowinning of La from La₂O₃ the LaF₃-LiF-BaF₂ system is used as electrolyte, it has been found that LaOF, which belongs to the tetragonal system with lattice constants a=4.088, c=5.809～5.825, exists in the electrolyte, precipitate, and froth. The specific gravity of LaOF is 6.01g/cm³ which is greater than that of the electrolyte.Two kinds of LaOF with purity of more than 99％ were prepared, one is of tetragonal system and the other rhombic. It has been found that LaOF could be electrolyzed under the same condition for La₂O₃. The increase of electrical conductivity by adding LaOF in the electrolyte is greater than by adding La₂O₃·It is considered that La₂O₃ may react with LaF₃ and LiF₃ in the electrolyte to form LaOF, and LaOF dissociates according to the followingequations:更多还原
