【Abstract】 Chemical shaking-flask method has been widely used in the determination of partition coefficients for various compounds. The distribution is generally done between phases of n-octanol and water,since such system has been shown to be simulating closely with the biological system found in human body.HPLC. with its inherent analytical advantages, has been employed in the determination of the partition coefficients. The chemically bonded ω-hydroxylalkyl silica were tested for the determi-nation of some aromatic compounds and found to give results with excellent coincidence with partition coefficients determined by classical shaking-flask method.
