【Abstract】 The Huangshanzui site was found on a hill-slope located at Chenglingxiang, Susong County, Anhui Province in the Spring of 1981, with a total area of 12 thousand sq m. Excavation were conducted here for three seasons, opening up 370 sq m, uncovering 17 burials and bringing to light some 140 pottery, stone and jade artifacts.The cultural deposits are 30—60 cm thick, found immediately beneath cultivated soil, All the 17 burials are found without tomb pits, coffins and human skeletal remains. Judging by orderlyarranged funeral oljects most of the tombs are of a northeast-southwest direction with few southeast-northwest orientated. The bulk of the funeral objects are pottery of daily use, which are distributed unequally among the tombs, fluctuating trom two to thirteen pieces with the usual number being six or seven. The pottery cling-tripod, dou-stemmed vessel, pot and cup are the general combination. Tools include the stone axe and adze and pottery spindle whorl. The daily-use objects are all hand-made pottery, with red sandy ware and red-coated black clay ones most often seen. They are frequently supported upon a ring-foot or three legs, and flat-based ones are few. incised fine line and dot line are the commonest decorations. Typologically, there are the ding-tripod, dou-stemmed vessel, pot, cup, bowl, basin, jar, cauldron lid and so on. The typical shapse are the oblate-bellied or slanting-walled jar-like tripod that has its feet decorated with impressed holes, the bowl-like dou with high ring-foot, the plate-like stemmed dou-vessel and the single-eared cup.Having its own characteristic features, the site is culturally different from the Xuejiagang complex in its neighbourhood and therefore preserts itself as a new type with elements of Changjiang-Hanshui primitive cultures.更多还原
