冲绳海槽的地形地貌特征
GEOMORPHIC CHARACTERISTICS OF OKINAWA TROUGH
【Abstract】 The Okinawa Trough is a marginal basin between the East China Sea shelf and the Ryukyu arc, with its axis running NE-SW. It is about 1000 km long and 150 km wide on average. Its bottom topography is very complex and there are many geomorphic types. Based on surveying and studying, some conclustions are made:1. The Okinawa Trough is a marginal basin with strong tectonic movement characterized by down-faulting geomorphy, it may be devided into three NE-SW belts and four NW-SE zones. These divisions are closely related to its geological history and that of other marginal basins of the West Pacific Ocean.2. There are three basic geomorphic units in the Okinawa Trough: the shelf slope, bottom basin and the Ryukyu island slope from NW to SE. Some principal geomorphic types include grabens in the bottom basin, taphrogranic valleys and sea-bottom volcanoes et al. Taphrogeny and volcanic activity play the important role in the geomorphic development.3. It is taphrogranic extension from SW to NE and the migration of the centers of spreading from NE to SW that give rise to the four NW-SE zones of the Okinawa zones mentioned above.4. There are two stages in the geomorphic development, namely: the taphrogranic structural geomorphy stage and the volcanic structural geomorphy stage, which are dominated by two development stages of the Okinawa Trough.5. Now, the Okinawa Trough can be regarded as in the initial stage of back-arc extension and will be developing towards the crost oceanization, leading to the "geomorphic oceanization" of the Trough.
