四川农村神经疾病流行病学的某些特点
CERTAIN FEATURES OF NEUROEPIDEMIOLOGY IN SICHUAN RURAL AREA
【Abstract】 By the use of the questionnaire andmethods of neuroepidemiology designed byWHO,NIH and National Neurological Epi-demiological Collaborative Survey Group ofChina,a neuroepidemiological survey in thecountry-side of Sichuan was carried out insix investigative areas, yielding a total sam-ple of 41 232 population. The lifetime pre-valence was 3742 per 100 000 (age-adjustedaccording to 1960 U.S.population).Thesix most prevalent neurologic diseases were:febrile convulsion, cerebral trauma, cerebralvascular diseases (CVD),epilepsy,migra-ine,and Bell’s palsy. The incidence andmortality of neurologic diseases were respec-tively 502 and 193 per 100 000 per year. The prevalence of CVD of country-side inSichuan was lower than that of Chengdu, six cities of China and U.S.,but morta-lity was significantly higher than that ofthese areas. It was due to early dying ofthe patienis of CVD at the beginning ofthe episode and thus gave low prevalencerate of this disease. In the country-sideof Sichuan, falling from height was themost common cause of cerebral trauma in-stead of traffic accident as seen in cities, reflecting the regional specificity of ourcountry-side. Analysing the neuroepidemiology amongvarious age groups, the prevalence,inci-dence and mortality of neurologic diseasesin old-age were all higher than that of theother groups, especially the mortality.There-fore in the prevention and treatment ingerontological field we must also pay muchattention to neurologic diseases. The mostcommon neurologic diseases in old-agewere:CVD,cerebral trauma,Parkinsoniansyndrome and neuralgia;whereas the mostcommon neurologic problems in childrenwere: febrile convulsion, epilepsy, andinfections of contral nervous system.
