厄尔尼诺和南方涛动的频率响应特征
CHARACTERISTICS OF FREQUENCY RESPONSE BETWEEN EL NINO AND SOUTHERN OSCILLATION
【摘要】 <正> 一、前言 在六十年代以前,厄尔尼诺这个术语是专指发生于赤道东太平洋上的大尺度海水增暖现象;而南方涛动则被用来说明热带洋面上东西向的大尺度气压变化。自从Bjerknes发现了海洋学上的厄尔尼诺现象和气象学里的南方涛动有着密切的相关之后,人们才把这种大尺度的海气相互作用现象总称为厄尔尼诺/南方涛动现象。从此,揭开了持续多年而盛行不衰的“热带海洋与全球大气”研究的序幕。
【Abstract】 In this paper, the discrete time series of EI Nino (EN) and Southern Oscillation Indices are used as an output sample-function as well as an input one. The frequency response and coherence functions between the two have been computed. It is shown, by the computing results, that both EN and SO are of wide-band spectrum and they are aperiodic. The EN spectrum has a peak value in a period of 4 years, while the SO one has a peak of about 5 years and a secondary peak of about 2 years. The gain factor of SO to EN is rather greater in a frenquency range of ENSO events (2-10 years, corresponding to 0.04-0.008 I/month), i.e. a small amplitude variation of the SST anomaly results in a large amplitude variation of the air-pressure difference between Tahiti and Darwin.The analysis from the obtained coherence function shows a high coherence between EN and SO,
