【Abstract】 The aqueous extract was isolated from the seeds of Cnidium monnieri. It can completely inhibit the action potential amplitude of isolated sciatic nerves in toads, indicating it possesses a nerve block anesthetic action. The experiments on guinea pig wheal preparation show that it induces an infiltration anesthetic effect, which may be significantly potentiated by 4μg/ml epinephrine. In rabbits, injecting the extract into the subarachnoid space of the lumber area almost immediately initiates the onset of anesthesia, while it cah’t exhibit a surface anesthetic action on the cornea. Therefore, its local anesthetic action is similar to that produced by 1 % procaine hydrochloride, but it produces a more weaker and shorter lasting anesthesia than procaine. Furthermore, the aqueous extract can potentiate the hypnotic effect of pentobarbital sodium in mice.更多还原
